My Approach
My approach is guided by a passion for helping clients create their best work.
I utilize a framework informed by 15 years of clinical experience as a psychotherapist, and extensive training in various creative arts disciplines. My experience as a psychotherapist enables me to be a consultant who is straightforward and incisive, but also present and patient. Clinical work has equipped me with a strong capacity to navigate the intricacies of a predicament, quickly evaluate challenges, triage in a crisis and mobilize necessary change. I also draw from tools in the field of psychology including social systems theory, positive psychology, relational conflict resolution and cognitive behavioral therapy. I have found that using these tools helps my clients develop greater insight, shift their thinking when they are stuck, and understand the complexities of workplace relationships.
My background in the arts has permeated all of my other professional pursuits. As my favorite professor once said, “your training as an artist will make you better at everything else.” This is a tenet I bring into my work as a consultant. I use tools from the creative arts to teach my clients to think like an artist, unlocking the power of their “right brain.” Thinking like an artist means honing your skills of perception and becoming a keen observer. It means learning to give and receive critical feedback, expanding your capacity to adapt and take risks, and becoming an expert in innovation and problem solving in the pursuit of actualizing your vision.
Kaleidescope:
Derived from three Greek words: kalos ("beautiful"), eidos ("form" or "shape"), and -scope ("to look at" or "instrument for viewing"). Literally translated, it means "observer of beautiful forms."
